LightPole- Location Based Ads

LightPolelogo.jpg Now when you’re out and about you can navigate around town and get the best deals offered by stores in your area thanks to LightPole. Download the file to java . Input the address ware your at. Then search for local happy hour and wifi spots.

Have a hot date? Launch LightPole to find those spots that have specials like two for one margaritas. Cooking dinner? Imagine your driving down the street when all the sudden your wife screeches that she forgot the lima beans for your favorite soup. Then you fire up LightPole to see if there are any on sale in the local area. You grab the address to the store in your local area and get a bargain on those beans. Within minutes you're her hero.

...That's the idea, anyway.

In my opinion its kind of trying to compete with some of the big guns like Google Maps and Live Search. The difference that I have seen is that it runs in java on my BlackJackII as opposed to a .cab file to download. I really don't like this because the java makes the text hard to read when doing searches for the happy hour or hot spots. In the end it is like Google Maps with predefined searches built in. I tried to add my personal searches like libraries or coffee shops but no luck. Also when I did my searches it was pretty much my location, the nearest hot spots and address. Nothing really spectacular came up besides phone number and address when I did my searches. I would much rather use Google Maps to do my searches check out my review here.

This company is still in development so they need resources (money). I guess everyone's out to make a buck off the blast of mobile phones. Seems like LightPole is after the restaurants and mom and pops coffee shops. Good old "Pay us and we can show you how you can advertise to suckers, er..users".
