Review: Nite Ize Clip Case Plus

Many of you are familiar with Nite Ize. They have been making cases and holsters for electronics for several years. Their products are traditionally industrial strength and size. The Clip Case Plus ($14.95 from the WMExperts store) is a perfect example of their typical product.

If Batman carried a cell phone, this would be the case he would use. There are pockets enough for a large cell phone (or two small ones), a Bluetooth headset, credit cards and id, a pen or flashlight, and some small children (not included).

Build Quality

This is what this holster is all about. This case is the definition of quality. Built of Ballistic Nylon with an industrial strength hook and loop closure, with a belt clip of heavy plastic, the Clip Case Plus is suitable for the toughest of jobs. The belt clip is attached to the case using both rivets and stitching.

Look

Since this is designed to be a “carry everything and the kitchen sink” kind of case, it can look very cluttered (think pocket protector) with various pens and Bluetooth headsets hanging off of it in every direction. That being true, this case is built for function only and is not designed for someone going for sleek or professional.

Design

As previously mentioned, this case has more pockets than you can shake a stick at. The main pocket is large enough for a large cell phone or PDA or a couple of smaller ones (I was able to fit both a Dell X51v and a Samsung BlackJack). Nite Ize also included their Tooth Ferry to carry your Bluetooth Headset (get it? Tooth…never mind). The design of the Tooth Ferry is actually pretty cool; it consists of an elastic band with a pull loop around it which allows you to get your Headset in and out without a fight. The case can be attached using the belt clip (again, industrial strength) which can be rotated 360 degrees in 90 degree increments.

Conclusion

The Nite Ize Clip Case Plus is by far the toughest holster I’ve ever seen. Both the case material and the way that the main pocket is hidden behind layers of other pouches lend to the protection of your device. If you often find yourself in a situation where the ultimate in protection is needed for your device, this is the case that you want to buy.
